For Analysts, Banks, and Investors

The denominator the whole sector is guessing at.

Per-basin installed compression horsepower, scope stated, reconciled to public filings. The citable base under the compression supercycle everyone is modeling and no one can size.

Somewhere in your model is a market-share estimate you cannot source. Roughly 48M HP of installed compression sits behind it, invisible to every analyst today.

That 48M figure is about 74% of the installed base, and it appears in no filing, no transcript, and no dataset an analyst can buy. Scope: permitted field and gathering compression, ≥200 HP, excluding processing-plant and transmission compression, reconciled bottom-up where public disclosure allows.

The visibility gap has a price on it. Jefferies estimates Archrock at roughly 56% Permian share, and that estimate is load-bearing for a $79 price target. It is an estimate because Archrock discloses only a combined Permian and Eagle Ford bucket; there is nothing better to cite. None of this is a criticism of the analysts. There was nothing to cite. Now there is.

The footnote today vs the footnote now

What you get

Built to survive a footnote

The Denominator Report is the aggregate: per-basin installed horsepower with the owned-versus-contract split, free, quarterly, built to survive a footnote. Enterprise is the base underneath: unit-level rows, vendor assignment, lifecycle deltas, API and warehouse delivery. Every figure in both carries a source tag (company-stated, analyst-estimate, or Kalibr-derived) and the scope sentence, because your compliance desk will ask, and the answer should already be printed on the page.

Market context

The category the census defines has no incumbent in it.

Broker research sizes upstream data and analytics as a multi-billion-dollar market, and those same estimates explicitly exclude operating-cost and vendor-benchmarking intelligence, for the simple reason that no platform sells it. No incumbent benchmarks compression dollars per horsepower per month, scores vendor financial health, or publishes a unit-level installed base; we have checked. The sizing figures above are analyst estimates and we label them as such, but the qualitative point does not depend on the error bar.
